Z1A ready for the road

#1 PostAuthor: Ultim8pc » Mon Feb 26, 2024 2:45 pm

Bought this Z1A last year and recently got around to getting work done on it so it's ready to ride again.

It had a horrible, ratty 4/1, pod filters and butchered sidepanels to accommodate and some minor electrical issues.
I've swapped the exhaust for a Kerker
Swapped the side panels and tail for some nicer ones
Replaced the incorrect rear indicators with Stanley items
Swapped the rear mudguard for a nicer one
Added an OEM steering damper
Fitted an OEM airbox I made up from two with issues
Stripped, cleaned and refurbished the carbs
Fixed the electrical issues
Given it a full service
Other than the exhaust, Combined reg/rec, Dyna igniton and seat it's a pretty original and unrestored bike with some patina; They are only original once.

Just needs a good deep clean and then I'm hoping to get out on it once the salt on roads is no longer an issue.

Cool and nice driver. I would give her new spokes when she needs new tyres.
Cheers, Uli

It's got newish tyres on it. There's nothing wrong with the spokes IMO.

BTW. The bike didn't come with a toolkit or owners manual.
I've managed to make up a toolkit.
Does anyone have an owners manual they'd sell? Not looking for anything mint, tatty will suit the patina of the bike.

Cheers

Oh and for better or worse, turns out my Z1A was owned by Henry Cole and featured his show. Him and Millyard 'did it up' and then posed about a bit for the cameras.

The bike was a bit bodged in places if I'm honest, but I've certainly seen far worse. But all sorted now.
