From memory, it's a while since I've had this apart on a 900 but it's going to be very similar to a 650 which I seem to have one apart every other week :)
The hooked end hooks around the pivot arm acting as a return spring the other end goes into a hole in the frame (on a 650) or maybe locates behind summit (on a 900) to return the pivot arm to the "brake off" position.

Thanks loads for your help, will try in the morning and see how I get on. By the way how do you get images visible into your posts?

Thanks

Here is where my bike started 10 years or so ago, then I had it powder coated and today 10 years on it has progressed to having the engine in.

I hope to get somebody who is familiar with the electrics to help hook it up and then need one more pipe (lower left), finish the restoration and then sadly I have to sell it.

Am a newbie as far as renovating bikes is concerned and am empowered by the friendly and patient help and advice I get from members here - thanks. Also huge thanks to Warren for assisting me to get images in posts.

You won't want to sell it once you've had a run out or two.
Especially as the market is so depressed at the moment.
They are addictive. Nowt like a 70s inline four from khi.

That's true Warren, I had some good years on it and my friends all have one, that is 4 of us but took it apart as a project when I was recovering from the big C.

But now I need £8500 to put a roof on my barn conversion and this is the only asset I have left to sell lol

Once I sell the barn I will buy another one, I had this one for 19 years.

Just knock 8 1/2 grand off the price of the barn and sell as is....and keep the bike
