compression figures Z1000

#1 PostAuthor: Hard Road » Thu Sep 26, 2024 5:04 pm

not got myself a manual yet but i read on another thread that the standard Z1 900 compression figures are 121psi !!!!! that seems low to me compared to other makes of bikes.
anyone got the numbers for a 1978 Z1000 ?
I checked mine and they are between 135-140 psi.

Factory minimum spec is 105PSI with no more than 15psi between any two cylinders.

mines a long way off from the minimum and due to it standing for over 6 years im sure it'll get better after some miles, its got 17.000 miles on its clock so i think its not a long way from being true !!!
ive got a 1980 GSX1100 with fairly good compression that stood for a long time with less than 10,000 miles on it, and after a few 100 miles the compression as come up to top spec.
