"real" barn find Z1000 J
So randomly on Facebook for a few pages Im a member of, a notice for a Facebook market place popped up for 2 z1000 bikes for sale. 3 Shitty photos ( see below) but i could piece together what they were cryptically at best. Money was way too good and i haven't bought anything stupid this year at all.. Off on a 3 hour trip and thse two were in a barn for horses, chickens too. Sat for 20 odd years, the Csr was bought as a donor bike to sort out the J after a crash but never happened. Now the downside, if the state of them isnt bad enough, the J has had the numbers scratched and log book handed over as the insurance was claimed for the bike and the bike was bought back off the insurance company for parts as was apparently something you could do back in the day. He said the 1981 Csr was the same year but the engine looks to be a police or Ltd one as its not painted black.

My biggest concern engine wise was this..and the damage that could potentially be underneath it.

So the mystery socket extension was for what i thought and there is a broken spark plug on the head. The pistons (standard bore) underneath are in good nick and sleeves are near perfect. Looks like ill have to dig out that spark plug and maybe have to sort out its threads at a later date but for now the head is in good shape bar that.

Sourced a pair of NOS fork tubes and fork lowers to replace the pogo sticks that are on the bike as it stands. Need to order seals and find a replacement for inners somewhere.

Ha it will be a long winter mate and iv been away from the bikes all summer, only working "working" 2 days a week now. My biggest hurdle will be a legitimizing the bike. Either source a new frame or alter the CSr frame into a J1 frame...
