if you are looking into a speedo drive and cable then im sure the early Mk2 bandit wheels had the cut outs for the drive, if not you can use a Mk1 wheel, but they have the curved spokes.

Ahh Bandit is a good and solid choice and plenty of them out there, i thought you might be going up the USD path and there is only one choice there in the Suzuki donor family that would get you everything you are looking for.
Angus.

I already had most of the bandit bits anyway.
im resisting the USD route. if i did get a set they would go on my GSX like the last one i built, but its more about keeping it more retro i think. :D another thought is to keep the zed wheels and when funds allow change the rims to wider ones to keep the look.

Its a cracking good looking bike as it is, not sure if you noticed the mirrored "Suzuki" logo under the Kawasaki...not sure if that was on purpose or not. How much did the yss shocks set you back? Was going to pop into the factory in Bangkok a few weeks back but saw the visitor center was closed...

lol, no i didn't notice the Suzuki logo on the tank, its a banner on the wall above the GSX.
I bought the YSS shocks for the GSX but when i put the bandit swinger on it, it was too tall on the rear end so put the OEM gsx1100 shocks back on as they are shorter and in good nick. I did fit the cheap chinese shocks on the zed but remembered I had the YSS's and they are a perfect length. think I paid £180 ??? but could be wrong !!!! no good with numbers :??
I will get the springs powder coated a different colour sometime.

slight change pf plan, still using a bandit wheel but looking for a Mk1 600, but it will fit into the zed front end, ive got an old 1200 wheel in it atm with clearance but want more so i can get a mudguard in. this way it makes life easier with less hassle with lockstops and mounting the clocks and all that, also re-fitting the zed wheel with a wider 17" rim will be easy.

Probably not exactly what you want but I remembered seeing this one at least a year ago - probably longer.... and it looks like its still available. For the "next" stage i.e. wire spoked 17's ? Its a Zed hub like your standard one and looks like a recent build / set of spokes - maybe a good head start to lace a wider rim onto ? I've no idea what the rim is !! Old BSA or Triumph maybe

Loving the build. :D

If you could use a Mk2 600 front wheel I have one kicking around here that you could have. But as you no doubt know, the Mk2 does not have a speedo drive.
Every silver lining has a cloud...
