Mystery electrical box

#1 PostAuthor: Mark W » Sun Jan 19, 2025 7:45 pm

Ever since I have had this bike (1994) it had a mystery electrical box with 4 marked wire connections with the wires disappearing into the loom.Under the cover had various relays and connectors.I bit the bullet and stripped the loom to find these wires,I hadn’t got a clue to what this was. There was a switched live then 2 wires went to the horn interrupting the live feed and the other was connected to an orange wire.I assume that this was some sort of alarm fitted ?

I'm guessing here but I think it's a crude alarm device. The aluminium cylindrical device in picture 1 could be a mercury switch or similar to detect movement of the bike. Are you brave enough to disconnect it all? :-)

I reconnected the spliced leads to the horn, capped the live and have discarded, hopefully that’s all it was !!!!
