Ignition Switch wiring short. Z1000 A2 1978

#1 PostAuthor: ADRIAN H » Fri Sep 12, 2025 6:13 pm

What would cause the Brown wire in the Ignition switch connector block to short out. I went out for a ride, came home. Next day turned the key on, no power at all. Noticed the brown wire on the ignition switch connector block had shorted out. I have bought a new connector block, which is now fitted - but there is still no power when key turned on.

Possibly a fault within the switch itself?
I might have a spare I could post to you to try.
Obviously you've checked for blown fuses?

Let me know if you want to try a different switch & i'll have a look to see if I've still got it.
Cheers

wiring that runs inside the bars is a weak point for the insulation wearing thru and blowing the fuse
