Dyna DS2-2

#1 PostAuthor: LeeJackson » Mon Feb 10, 2025 10:26 pm

Hi all,

As per my z650 revisited project I’m working on, Ive realized I don’t have an ignition, so wondering if anyone has a used Dyna s they would like to sell?
I’m Breaking my must build out of stock rule but I really don’t want to use points :)

Thanks
Lee

Might aswell fit a Chinese copy off ebay. A third the price and everyone Ive fitted has performed perfectly.
Alledgedly made from the same components in the same factory as Dyna just without the stickers.
Approx £75 against £225

That’s interesting feedback Warren, I do t actually realize you got such a thing. Just had a look and seems you can get as cheap as 50 quid! When having a browse it jogged my memory that I may have a paranha one kinking about somewhere… I’ll check a few more boxes :) Failing that the Chinese one could be a good option.

Hi Warren I went for the Chinese option! Finally got myself an advancer so that’s this weekends job. I had. A Quick Look and noticed the replacement sleeve with the magnet is a good bit shorter than the original mechanical part. Did you notice this at all? I’m assuming I just space out the slack with something to the top of the advancer bolt but wanted to check incase I’m missing something. Cheers Lee

I've never had to add a spacer that I recall on any 650 ones I've done.

Sure you've got the right advancer?

Hmm that’s a good question warren. This is I belive Z750E advancer (1013) marking. But it is a z750E engine so that’s what I went with. I would have thought the lengths would be the same but maybe that’s the problem..

I’ll fit it on Saturday and if the magnet lines up ok then I think I can space the slack out somehow. Let’s see how it goes!

What's the part number on the advancer?
21148-011 is the 650 b1 - b3 one.

It looks like 650 / 750 advancer are different.
I don't have a parts list for a 750 to cross reference. Just looked it up on cmsnl
21148-1013 is the number for the 750 E.

Either way, where there's a will there's a way. Just gotta figure it out

If it lines up with the pick ups you just need to loosely shim up the gap between the end of the rotor and the 17mm nut.
However i would check the security of that magnet as some are known to work loose and wreck the pick ups .
Most of these pattern ones have the hole drilled right through so it may poke out from the back and then set it back in with some araldite.
