I've done several projects and this one has turned out much the best because I went for practical rather than radical.

The only on-going probelm I have is the cylinder head which has a crack in it-and leaks oil- but the later unitrack (or 1100R) heads are difficult to come by as a replacement.

I keep looking.

Have sent you a pm about Unitrack head.

Just like buses! I sent him one a few days ago!

Oh do nt want to tread on anyones toes, at least he has options. .

Yes and thanks, but I've learnt a lesson here- there are few parts that stump you completely- and cylinder head is one of them.

I'm happy with a spare.
Oh, and both of you were kind enough to offer them for the same price.

Busses and everything.
Thanks to you both for responding to my cry for help.

Not sure I was clear then- I'm happy to buy both if they are serviceable.

April 20th 2013 got it going this evening.

A little complication- I've got one of those Halfords battery conditioners- left it plugged in for a week or so- all worked well and the bike started fine.

However, I'd left it wired to the bike and the plug out of the wall for a week or so- today when I went to start it the battery was dead. I guess those conditioners use power from the battery when not plugged in.

Anyway- it ran this evening and so I took it out for new fuel and to pump the tyres up.

Wow its fast!
Great fun mucsle bike to ride. Fell in love with it all over again.
Roll on the summer.

The motor is old and tired and needs a rebuild.
Many thousands of miles later and it needs some attention.
I'm using it loads and I'm starting to fret that some of the rebuild parts are no longer (or soon will be no longer) available.
It's the same one that was in this:

Can be a rush to ride once that 1400 starts to churn.
