Hello, thought it was about time i started one of these. My project is a Z1000H which i came across in an old container in someones yard it had been there for 6 years.

Yuk!
Engne out and stripped, lots of corrosion.

I had the tank, side panels and tail piece sprayed and also the frame done in two pack,( nice )

The engine is nearly back together, i will post some more photos soon.

I`ve said before that I reckon projects that have taken years to complete are then presented as 2 month complete resoration on here ?

Truth is I`m dead jealous of Archie and his "H" model Z, one that I have always coveted.

Well done so far Archie and I hope you can keep up the standard which is very high by the looks of things

The frame etc. was done a few weeks ago, i've spent the last 2 or 3 weeks on the engine, new gaskets, rings, camchain, idle gear, valve seals. The barrels have been homed, reground the valve seats, re-shimmed the valves, had the injectors reset and painted and polished. I flushed the engine put in a new oil filter and put everthing together with polished stainless cap heads.

Archie,
you stated that you have had your injectors reset, painted and polished.
I wasn't aware that an injector needed setting up.
Have you got a before and after of one of your injectors?
I think you have carried out what will undoubtedly be a stunning bike by the time you've finished. Could you put some more pics on this site?


p.s. How have you got on obtaining spares for your bike?

Harry, to run correctly the injectors need to flow a certain amount of fuel per minute and also need to produce a fan pattern to fully atomize the fuel. If the injectors have been standing for a while then fuel can gum up the needles causing them to either not open or only open slightly reduce the amount of fuel passing through. Also a bit of old crap from the tank or gummy fuel on the needle seat of the injector can prevent it producing a nice fully atomized pattern.
If your manual gives you a flow figure (usually cc's per minute) you can take your injectors to a injector specialist and have them cleaned / tested.
On my old fuel injected 750 Turbo a 3v battery connected to the injector will open them . You can then reverse clean them by blowing compressed air through the jet end of the injector. It has to be done from the head side of the injector as there is USUALLY a fine mesh filter inside the injector body before the needle.
