Book says STD 1000 is 16.7 litres so count maybe 3 for reserve and you have about 2.7 gallons main tank so 100 - 120 miles before reserve sounds good to me.

With tanks - Run a magnet wrapped in a cloth around the tank if it dont stick in places the tanks maybe dented and full of filler this would reduce its capacity. This was the case i recall with one of our members who had a simular problem

Baza

My z1a does about 40 miles per gallon under normal use, ie not pootling about, but not thrashing it either, maybe 80mph but most of the time 60ish, (on a run out )

just fill the tank up and zero the trip and when it runs out fill it up again, note how many ltrs it takes and divide it by 4.54, that will give you the gallons used and then just divide it by the miles travelled, Do it 2 or 3 times and you will get an average of what it does to the gallon. (look at me being all old fashioned still, me head hurts now :??

Hit reserve yesterday(rolling through an intersection of all places  ) with 203.3 kms (127 miles) on the trip odo. It was raining when this happened and I was about 1.5 kms from home so I didn't stop to refill.

On Sat I refilled at 170.8 kms (not on reserve btw) and it took 9.833 litres, good for 49.xx mpg

You lucky, lucky people

Just think about those poor H2 Triple owners, on the motorway they only get 50 miles before going on reserve.

And thats scary if your ten miles from the next filling station.

So if you see an H2 in the slow lane doing 45mph, wave and point at your full tank!!! :P
Turning the throttle towards you will cause the motorcycle to accelerate

I have always filled up at around 100miles, which sometimes is reserve and sometimes not quite, but oddly since I have fitted the competition baffles in the Old Gurl's 'arris I seem to be getting more to the gallon. I can't quite get my head around this, but it appears to be fact :?? Despite haing changed the filler cap rubber and having cleaned up the filler hole after the tank was resprayed; I still don't fill her up as the other bikes in her stable, as it distresses me to see petrol on that expensive paintwork

Frankly, I don't give a shit how much she does to the gallon .... she gives me more smiles per gallon/hour than any other vehicle invented :D

I rode a mates Katana 1100 with a Harris and comp baffle.

I suggest you are getting more miles because you are shutting the throttle a lot more.................................especially through villages.

It`s the noise that turns heads Ralph, not the bike
