This might be more useful;
Poor quality pictures I know but hopefully enough to explain.
Discs here are 275mm Suzuki (as I guess you'll recognise). Front fork is z1000A. Calliper is ZX10.
The disc spacing has been reduced / narrowed to match the standard z1000 disc spacing.
The set up including adaptor plates was first made to use with Kawasaki GPz 750A ZX Unitrack 3 spoke wheels and 278mm discs from 1100 Unitrack.
The Astralites with Suzuki discs "narrowed" bolted straight in. (obviously some jiggery - pokery to sort the spindle out !)
You could replicate this set up and use it with the standard Z1000 front wheel with 277mm (LTD) discs which you have. N.B. Fork bottoms in pic are 1000A - you have 1000B so the mounting bolt positions for bolting the adaptor plate to the fork need to be in a slightly different position from ones in the picture.
Its a VERY simple adaptor - no tapped holes and only accurate drilling required.
Hopefully you can just about spot the lower edge of a flat 5mm thick steel plate sandwiched between the ZX10 calliper carrier bracket (bit with holes visible in pic) and the z1000 fork leg lugs.
Short bolts (cut down) go through the adaptor plate and thread into standard mounting holes in the calliper carrier bracket.
Long bolts (I used sprocket carrier bolts) go in from the back / disc side of the fork leg - through the adaptor plate first then through the fork leg lugs with nuts on the outside (I used standard Zed cylinder head nuts). Need to go in before the wheel !
All thats needed is a flat plate cut out to a simple profile to clear the calliper body and with 4 holes accurately drilled in the right places.
I started off with a thin alloy plate and made a template to check the alignment / fit and when it was right, transferred the shape / holes onto the steel.
A couple of 1mm thick washers were needed to get spacing / alignment (each side between calliper carrier bracket and adaptor plate if memory serves) but this should be easy to figure out when it bolts together.
Simple.
These work great.
I would expect you'd find this is all you need on an old Zed with skinny tyres.
Total cost: less than £100 I'd say.
ALSO 100% reversible - just bolt the old set up back in place if needs be.
Nice part of the world to live by the way. Coast road Rampside to Conishead used to be good so far as I remember..... but it was a very long time ago !
