Crack.
Finally managed to strip down the engine on my Z1000 a1 project, found a problem, a small crack on the upper half casing on the bearing end where the clutch end sits, is it repairable, should I get it repaired or is it buggered?

Re: Crack.
A common fault where someone has bolted the cases together with the bearing race misaligned and punched the locating pin into the case.
Have seen the upper case nearly split in half by this.
If the crack is only visible on the inside then you will be ok to use as is and as the pin is still protruding it will still locate in the bearing.
If the crack extends out to the surface ( which can result in oil seepage) it should have a bead of weld run along it on the OUTER surface to seal it up.
If that is the case then bolt the cases together with the gear shafts etc in situ to keep everything true and aligned whilst welding.
