KZ1000 1981/82 Engine.

#1 PostAuthor: Foxfix » Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:46 am

Is it common or regular to get a light "Tick" on the above engines from the Ignition Pick-Up area ?
It can only really be heard on idle and not above.

Its NOT leaking exhaust gaskets.
Its NOT valve shims.

Any productive and useful advice appreciated.

Thanks

Could be anything but it's not a normal characteristic of the J/GPZ engine variation.

Have you done an oil change of late? Any obvious signs of metal in the oil, did you run the bike with the points cover off?

Everything has been doen in the last 200 miles.
Oil Filter/ Air Filter / Oil / Plugs / Shims...........etc.

Have not ran with pick-up cover removed..........but what difference would that make ?

It might make the sound more audible and maybe it could be coming from in it...can never rule things out.
