Going to be giving my gpz1100b1 a top end rebuild soon
and was thinking of fitting the cams from a unitrac to give a bit of a power boost.at the same time has anyone done this, what are the pros and cons?
do I need anything other than the cams? I know the uni has under bucket shims
but what are the chances of it spitting a shim if I stick with my over bucket shims? any advice/info would be great thanks.
Brian.

They drop straight in. Just check for clearance at the bucket bores.
Spitting a shim is remote and the main cause of that is with very high lift race cams that cause the shim edge to rock on the bucket groove that runs around the inside of the shim recess, this creates a tiddly wink effect that allows the shim to lift and the cam lobe flicks them out.
Before under bucket shims were available tuners used to fill in the groove with silver solder etc to prevent this.

+1

I've just fitted Unitrak cams in my GPz1100B1 motor and there were no problems whatsoever!
