The Zeds new garage mate arrived last week: so went to work with the Autosol and polishing stuff: she's very recent a US import, with 9500m miles on her from new, according to the documents she has only done 1200 miles since 1993, so I guess the engine will be having a full strip down over winter and new crank seals fitting.

Piccys flatter a bit, as a lot of the chrome is shagged and will need a replate, needs a new correct seat and grab rail etc . But overall I am well chuffed, original paint work, starts on the button and runs spot on - famous last words

Seals are the one job I never did on mine.
I always figured it was quite daunting and expensive.

As I can't see the reg I can't tell which model it is. I really enjoyed my kettle as I've always been a stroker fan. Fact is though they are not the best bike to live with.

Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh because I still have a soft spot for them.

TLC - not UK registered yet: I need to get her MOT'd, but she's a 1974 750L model.

Balou, seems a life time since we had a coffee on Skeggy seafront - hope you are well ? yes this makes it Kettle number 2 - here is the other one.

I will defo be looking for a GPZ1100 B2 when I have put this one back to her full gloss 70's bling.

Yes its abeauty but i prefer the B model for looks. (but make sure you put the side stand all the way down :wink:

Andy, whats the old expression "if a picture paints a thousand words" - look below; piccy taken this afternoon.

Most of my "thousand words" start with: "You fecking piece of", and end with "Soon be on eBay"

Finally got my Zed running on all 4 pots again

Relief !! - now if it would just stay like that I will be a happy chap.

Re the engine finish - it had a ceramic polish by Stephen Smethurst about 3 years ago (when being rebuilt); since then it just gets a regular thrashing with Autosol.

Steve Smethurst's suggested after treatment care was also use carb/contact cleaner.
