Black Chrome

Has any one a contact for someone who does black chrome?
I have a few bits that need attention, it's hard enough to get chrome done by the looks of it but I can't find anyone who still does black chrome?

Thanks for the replies. I sent email out to these. Neither are an option. The first no longer do it, the second will only do large quantities of new chrome, they recon the acid will be contaminated with a refurb piece.
Just putting this out there, I haven't seen the result but I have been offered black nickle, not as hard as chrome but would it be an option? I would have though there would be a slightly brassy look to it but I'm told it is just softer.
Any suggestions?

I could do with a few bit's black chroming for my Turbo (petrol cap etc) so would be interested in the black nickel as an alternative.

I'm currently part of a group buy for new replica Exhausts which are also black chromed but I don't think the manufacturer does individual items.

I looked into the Black nickel and I'm told the only difference is durability. I think I'm going to chance it as I'm not having any luck with black chrome.
I'll let you know how I get on.

i had some black chrome done at northampton and midland plating co ltd 01604 631372 did a good job costs a bit more than ordinary chrome plating though.

I think there's a dull part on the grab rail but I'm not sure about that, it could be the light reflecting less than on the other part.
After all these people do the best they can, they try to make new out of old but they can't perform miracles!
Anyway your parts are very usable.
If you're not satisfied go back and tell them they have to do it again. That's what I do over here.

There's pitting in the fuel cap, but unless you say nobody can be sure what you are unhappy about, so it could also be someone has nicked your computer and left the leads for you as an insult to injury, let's also have before pictures so we are able to make a judgement on what the platers have to deal with.

Sorry, I though the title said it all.
After being told by the expert that there was no visual difference between black nickle and black chrome I sent these over to Birmingham. He then refused to ship back to Ireland, even though I would have covered the cost. I had a mate pick them up. My mate knew these didn't look right so he rang me and sent photos, the person at the platers was only the lad as the boss was still in bed I recon.
Anyway, I had to take them or risk never seeing them again, as my mate had a very tight schedule.
The thing is, it is a pretty nice finish, except for the cap.

The 'after' pictures do look very Grey, but Black chrome can change to all manor of shades dependant on the light. The original pipes on my Turbo can also look very Grey at times.....

Yes ,but these are closer to chrome than Black...by a mile. Still don't know what to do. It would be a lovely finish on another bike.

Sadly it's all in the preparation, not an easy job, you really need to go to these places to see samples of what they can do before having it done, black chrome goes from dark grey to black according to your own take on black, it's an expensive way to learn, in general it will be the sub-strata of nickel where the problem has started from, the expert is not that expert after all, there is a clear difference between black nickel and chrome, it's been 12 years since i was in the game and a few things have changed, but some of the rubbish people want plated like new beggars belief, but for experts to talk that kind of dribble does not do their cause any good.

Never tried it but I've seen a few places advertising Black Chrome powder coating...
