Gpz1100 caliper
Been having a nightmare with trying to fit the brake callipers on the gpz11 I am beginning to suspect that either the callipers are gpz750 or the fork legs are gpz750. The problem is when I trying to fit the callipers they are binding on the disk on the top edge, I thought the disk may be warped hence I bought new ones but that was when I discovered that it was the top edge that was catching. Can anyone tell me if the 750 and 1100 for legs are different

Re: Gpz1100 caliper
which part of the calliper is rubbing on the disc ?
Re: Gpz1100 caliper
Hi
Its the leading edge of the disc so not the part where the pads sit but the top see pic the black bit

Re: Gpz1100 caliper
Looks like the disc is 10mm bigger. I had a similar issue. Ended up getting discs made to suit.
Re: Gpz1100 caliper
Hi Derek
according to CMS.NL the fork legs of a Gpz1100 and those of a Gpz750 are the same...
I think the problem may be that the disks you have are too big like scott replied.
I'll measure the diameter of the disks and the dimensions of the calipers on my Gpz1100 and I'll let you know.
There has to be an explanation and a solution for your problem!

Re: Gpz1100 caliper
have you tried swapping the caliper brackets over to the opposite side ?
Re: Gpz1100 caliper
gpz1100 a1/ a2 280mm front discs
gpz750 a1/ a2 270mm front discs
750 & 1100 brake calipers are identical & have the same part numbers

Re: Gpz1100 caliper
Thanks for the replies. It is the sam with the Kawasaki oem discs. The calliper brackets cannot be used on either side as only two of the holding bracket holes are threaded

Re: Gpz1100 caliper
Your caliper brackets are different to the standard ones fitted on my Z1000J, which I think should be similar to the early GPz or 750 ones.
Are they custom made and maybe not for your fork/disc combination?

Re: Gpz1100 caliper
gpz1100 a1/a2 & gpz750e1/e2 turbo use the same lower fork legs & front brake discs & brake calipers. gpz750a1 /a2 have different lower fork legs & smaller diameter brake discs but use the same calipers

z1000j use a completely different caliper the mounting bracket is aluminium on the z1000j & steel on the gpz 1100 a1/a2

Fair enough, just thought I'd mention it as there seems to be an issue with mismatch of parts assuming everything is bolted up correctly.

Re: Gpz1100 caliper
it look like i may have the bottom fork legs off a gpz750 and caliper brackets from a 1100 and the discs i think i may have some lower fork legs for the GPZ so will have a look at swapping one over and trying again that's if the internals are the same

Re: Gpz1100 caliper
the GPZ1100 A1/A2 calipers are the same as GPZ550 A1/ a2 & GPZ750 A1/A2 & GPZ750 turbo E1/E1
