I know this subject has been covered but I can’t find it.
After changing oil and filter with 3.7 litres of oil i ran bike for a couple of minutes.I turned bike off and left to settle.
After 2 minutes the level in glass is in the middle of the marks
After 10 minutes the level is on the upper mark
Overnight the sight glass is full
The question is when do you actually check.
The bike is 1976 900a4 with cooler fitted
Sorry again I know subject has been covered but can’t find
Thanks

Re: Oil level
No higher than the top level with a cold engine.
I tend to keep my A2 towards the higher level and check regularly (on a flat surface) as they can use a bit on long runs.

Re: Oil level
If the engine was totally drained and filter changed then 3.7 liters is the correct amount and should put the oil level touching the high mark after the engine has been run to fully circulate the oil , fill the filter and then left overnight to settle.
On a daily basis the oil level should be kept towards the upper level when cold..
