I've got a 1977 Z1000 a1 fitted with vm28 pumper carbs but someone has removed the accelerator pump diaphragm and the small check valve inside the float bowls. I know I can buy the diaphragm from NRP but do I need to fit the check valve as well and do I need to fit them too the other bowles as well.
Also what are the specs for the jets and needles as I bought carb kits for a set of standard Z1000 carbs before realising they weren't standard. Also I haven't had the bike running yet as I bought it as a project.
Thanks

Re: VM28 pumper carbs
If you want to restore the pump you will need the square diaphragm and all the check valves etc.
Pumper carbs have a fixed position needle as they were set up at the factory for anti tampering to comply with US emmisions.
You can leave the carbs with the pump disabled and spec them up as stock 28's using the needles ect from the kit.
Hopefully you have bought genuine Mikuni or Keyster component as all others are garbage and will make the carbs worse..
