As with anything, depends on codition & type, but I'd expect you'll be looking at the thick end of £500 :??

Remember they don't have adv/retard mods (usually) :!:

thanks for the replies.
the bike will be road use with occasional sprint.
as i said liked the old school look of the magneto.
will the engine be unresponsive without the advance/retard mechanism.
am looking at an ama style bike, ie no lights , daytime mot just a rear brake light so this could be run from a lightweight racing battery that i can stick on charge after each run out.
can i junk the rest of the generator from the crank if this is the case.?

i think this is a bike from one of the forum members.does anyone know who, so i could ask him a few questions about the instalation of the ignition.

With no retard facility this have to be set at a fixed full advance (say 38 deg) for high speed running.
Will be a bit rough at low revs but over 2/3000rpm will be ok.
They are easy to set up if you get your hands on one.

You can junk the charging system and fit a battery just for the brake light, However if you intend on removing the alt case too then you will loose the starter clutch and have to use the kickstart only.

Have a look at ELECTREX WORLD - they have really smart self generating ignition systems - saw them at Stafford - want one for me HARRIS, but nearly £500 - including mounting plate & coils & retard
